Goose Island is most famous for it’s Bourbon County lineup of barrel aged beers, but their sour barrel program known informally as the sister’s is every bit as formidable. Each of the beers in this series, all of which are brewed in the Belgian tradition, bear a female name and are aged in wine barrels with specially selected fruit. Join us for an incredible event on Friday, May 20, 2016, in honor of Chicago Craft Beer Week, as four of these amazing beers will be available on draft.
*Halia is a Belgian Style Farmhouse Ale, ABV 7.5%, aged in wine barrels with whole peaches, resulting in bright, effervescent fruit notes in a soft, hazy body that finishes slightly tart and sweet with the pleasant character of ripe, juicy peaches.
*Juliet is a Belgian Style Wild Ale, ABV 8%, fermented with wild yeasts and aged in wine barrels with blackberries, resulting in a tart, fruity, complex ale. Notes of wood, tannin, dark fruit and spice make Juliet an ideal beer for enthusiasts of Pinot Noir and Belgian sour ales.
*Lolita is a Belgian Style Wild Ale, ABV 8.7%, fermented with wild yeast and aged on raspberries in wine barrels. Aromas of fresh raspberries, bright jammy fruit flavors and a crisp, refreshing body make Lolita ideal for beer drinkers fond of Belgian Framboise.
*Gillian is a Belgian Style Farmhouse Ale, ABV 9.5%, that brings white pepper, strawberry, and honey to a harmonious blend. Partially aged in wine barrels, Gillian is slightly tart and pleasantly sweet in a refreshingly effervescent body.
Join us Thursday, 5/12 for the tapping of a very rare and special beer, Bell’s Honey Hearted. Prior to dry-hopping, Bell’s takes their revered IPA, Two Hearted, adds honey and performs a secondary fermentation using champagne yeast. The result is then aged in Traverse City Whiskey barrels with orange and lemoin zest. ABV 16.7% 🙂 If that’s not enough, we will also be featuring a new session pale ale from Bell’s called Oatsmobile, brewed with oats, along with the beloved Two Hearted and the summer seasonal, Oberon. Hope to see you here!!!!!
Pipeworks End of Days is an Imperial Milk Stout brewed with cacao nibs, vanilla beans and ancho chilies. A firey finish from the chilies makes this the perfect beer to enjoy on May 5th, Cinco de Mayo. Hope to see you here!!!
Stop in for a special evening featuring two new IPA’s from two new local breweries, Empirical located at 1801 W. Foster and Hopewell located in Logan Square at 2760 N. Milwaukee. Both IPA’s are classic representatives of the category with lively hop notes and solid malt backbones. The following are descriptions from the breweries:
EMPIRICAL INFINITY IPA
What we love in a great IPA is a firm, clean bitterness with a mix of pine, resin, and bright citrus aromas, all capped off with a snappy dry finish. We achieve that luscious imbalance by using copious amounts of American hops at every opportunity during the process. The result is a crisp, toasty, malt flavor that cowers before a massive hoppy bitterness and aroma, crawling its way from the glass to smack your taste buds around.
HOPEWELL SWIFT IPA
This is our IPA featuring a substantial crisp bitterness kept in check by a solid malty sweetness. With an intense citrus bouquet and flavor, Swift is a bright and clean IPA.
Hope to see you here!!!!
Pronounced “horchata”, a traditional, sweet, milky drink originating in Spain and Latin America. The Bruery’s take on this traditionally non-alcoholic drink is a blonde ale brewed with a heavy dosing of rice, cinnamon and fresh vanilla beans along with lactose for a little extra creamy character. Hope to see you here!!!!
